Lonely colours also gives an insight into how I developed my philosophy of art. Broadly speaking, I believe art is culture and culture is shared. It is shared by those who have walked before us, those who walk alongside us, and those who will walk when we are gone. As such, art should show the traces of the past, the influence of contemporaries and suggestions of the future. The atomisation of the artist, a characteristic of post-modernism, dulls a palette's colours. While the creative process is for the self, the display is for others. When there is no dialogue between the two, cultures have no vibrancy and their colours have no life.
